Five Favorites of July

July Favorites Graphic.png

July is one of my favorite months of the year. Not only is it my birthday month, but it is smack dab in the middle of summer. By mid-July I’m starting back-to-school shopping and finishing up with summer purchases. I can’t believe this will be my senior year of college and LAST back-to-school shopping season! Anyways, this year I’m still grabbing a couple summer items, like this bathing suit cover up for my vacation to Los Angeles coming up in August. Let’s move on to my 5 favorite things I purchased this month!

Chunky Heel Sandals- The second I spotted these shoes on a shelf at a local consignment store I knew I had to have them. This is the Tory Burch Bleecker Slingback Sandal, featuring a totally leather construction (so the sole, lining and upper are all made of a beautiful supple leather) and have a 4 inch heel. I can picture myself wearing these all fall with skinny jeans and jewel toned swing dresses. Although this exact shoe is sold out on the Tory Burch website, I have seen a few pairs listed on eBay and Poshmark!

Beachy Cover-Up- I’m leaving for vacation in Los Angeles in a couple weeks and wanted to make sure I had a super summery bikini cover up to wear on the beach. I plan to spend at least one whole day in Santa Monica, enjoying the gorgeous beach in my bikini but also shopping and strolling the boardwalk. This tunic style cover-up will be perfect for throwing on over my bikini to go grab lunch and hit the shops! This is the Marco Island Tunic in the print Lovers Coral from last summer and is no longer sold in stores. Linked is a similar printed cover-up from this summer’s Lilly Pulitzer collection.

Curl Cream- As a naturally curly haired lady, I’m very picky about hair products. I generally have one go-to alcohol free product that I use religiously, but my mom who has similar hair recommended this curl cream to me. It makes my curls defined and hydrated. This is the One ‘n Only Argan Oil Curl Cream and you can get it here at Sally’s Beauty Supply online or in stores.

Transition Tank- Okay, technically my boyfriend purchased this one for me as one of my birthday presents (he picked it out all by himself!) I love how this print has a navy background, which means this tank will easily transition into this fall. I’m currently wearing this top as I write this blog post with a pair of white chino shorts and sandals, it is 104 degrees outside right now. But come fall, I’ll be styling this tank with a navy cardigan, skinny jeans, and boots! I recommend sizing down one size from your regular top size. This is the Crayton Racer Back Tank in the print Head in the Sand (yes, they’re pink ostriches) and you can order it here from Lilly Pulitzer.

Classic Jeans- I have never been a jeans girl. I know they’re an American staple and all, but I would much prefer to be in a skirt or dress any day. However, after trying many brands, this pair are hands down my favorite jeans ever. This is the Toothpick Jean from J.Crew- they’re a skinny jean in a classic dark rinse, and I love how they look with sweaters and boots in the fall and winter. I now own five pairs of these exact jeans in different washes. Great news! This color is now on super sale with an extra 50% off the MARKED DOWN price. I recommend sizing up one size from your normal jeans size. Order them here and hurry before sizes start to run out.

That is it for July! Happy hunting ladies.

Happy Hippos

Sharing this pink and green summer outfit with you ladies! Let’s get down to business.

The Top: I’m styling the Devon Strappy Cami from my June Favorites post for y’all- remember how I said I purchased it in two colors? Here is the pink version! I love this muted shade of pink because it matches so much of my Lilly Pulitzer collection. The criss-cross straps are very on-trend right now, and although it took me awhile to finally try them out (I lean more towards classic, timeless styles) I’m glad I did! This little top is made from 100% cotton and is super soft and breathable for hot summer days. It was over 100 degrees outside when these photos were taken!

The Skort: This skort has become one of my very favorite Lilly Pulitzer pieces. Now honestly, when I first saw it, I almost left it behind. I’m so glad I didn’t! I love spending my weekends browsing thrift stores for older and rare pieces to add to my closet, which is how I acquired this Lilly Pulitzer skort in the print Beach Bums, from the 2006 summer collection. Can y’all imagine that I was 10 years old when this skort was released in stores? I think my favorite part about older Lilly Pulitzer prints is the detail that went into each one. I still love the newer, more abstract prints, but the little smiling hippos in this print really get me- how hilarious are they. My favorite Lilly Pulitzer prints have always been the ones where you can easily identify what is in the print- whether it be zoo animals, sea creatures, flowers or boats. The pink and white daisy trim along the sides add that extra special touch that screams “Lilly!” Why don’t more brands make skorts and dresses with pretty trims?

The Bag: This purse is my newest edition to my Tory Burch collection. It is the smaller size of the Parker Tote from the Tory Burch Spring 2017 collection. I purchased this one in May, right at the end of my junior year of college as a reward to myself for surviving another year. Anyways, I know y’all have seen this bag in a lot of my Instagram posts. This bag is made from Saffiano leather, which is made by coating high-quality leather with a wax or resin and then pressing a cross hatch print into it. This makes the bag semi-water proof and very easy to clean. The technique was originally created in Italy and patented by Prada, invented by Mario Prada himself. I personally love Saffiano leather because of its durable qualities. I feel more comfortable knowing that my everyday bag can experience spills and lipstick smudges that can easily be cleaned when I get home. Aside from that, the bag is a gorgeous ivory color that goes with all my bright summer outfits and fits my 13in MacBook. Unfortunately, this color is now sold out, but the bag can still be purchased in an array of other vibrant colors including new additions such as a gorgeous maroon called ‘deep garnet’ and blush pink called ‘pink quartz.

That concludes my rundown of this outfit. As always thank you ladies for reading!

21st Birthday Outfit!

Hey, everyone! I’m super excited to share this special outfit with y’all- I turned 21 years old this Monday and of course, I had to celebrate in a fun, bright dress. I finally popped the tags off this gorgeous shift for the occasion. My first legal drink (wine of course) and a sushi dinner was the perfect way to celebrate. I’m ready to spill all the details on my birthday outfit and linking everything so y’all can buy it too.

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer Janice Shift Dress in Scuba to Cuba
This dress is from Lilly Pulitzer’s Summer 2015 collection- yes I’ve been saving it that long. I love this colorful print which features little fishes, seaweed and maybe a jellyfish or two! This dress screams summer and called for a special day. The signature gold embroidery on the neckline and more form fitting shape makes it a Janice shift- one of my favorite Lilly Pulitzer styles. A similar printed Lilly Pulitzer dress is linked here.

Earrings: Kendra Scott Danielle’s in Magenta
I adore the fact that the magenta magnesite stones match the shade of pink in my dress perfectly. Nothing makes an outfit look more put-together than matching accessories. I wear these earrings frequently during the summer because they look just as great with a pair of shorts and a tank as they do with a party dress! The best part about Kendra Scott Danielle earrings is that they are made from 14K gold plating over brass, which means they are durable and won’t tarnish easily. Grab your own pair here.

Sandals: Tory Burch Millers in Gold
These sandals are a summer staple in my closet. I decided to dress this outfit down with my favorite flats. Not only are these sandals extremely comfortable thanks to the soft leather and rubber sole but they are a classic style that will always look good. Tory Burch has been selling the Miller sandal with their iconic logo in various colors and prints for years now, head over to their website for this exact pair though.

Also, I wanted to say thank you again for all of the sweet birthday wishes I received on Instagram! I started posting my #OOTDS on Instagram about 5 years ago and I have gathered a tiny but loyal following. So thank you, ladies, for being so sweet and liking all my outfits over the years! I love sharing about what I’m wearing on this little corner of the internet and I hope I can help someone out there with these posts.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Round-Up

Screen Shot 2017-07-13 at 6.41.44 PM

It is time for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Early access for Nordstrom card holders started today, but the sale starts for the public on Friday, 7/21. This is one of the biggest sales of the year for two reasons-

  1. Deep discounts on NEW Fall/Winter 2017 items (not past season items like normal sales! New things!) Prices will go back up to full retail price when the sale is over.
  2. Nordstrom carries items from hundreds of different brands, so it is basically like all your favorite stores are having a sale at the same time, same place! Some of my favorite brands Nordstrom carries include Tory Burch, M.A.C, Kendra Scott, J.Crew, Lilly Pulitzer, Vince Camuto, Topshop, Sam Edelman and many others!

Quick Tips

  1. Shop the sale online. The website will have a much wider selection than in stores.
  2. Shop early! If you don’t have a Nordstrom credit card and have to wait until the sale goes public, try to get on the website as soon as possible. Staying up on Thursday night until midnight would not be looked down upon when it comes to this sale!
  3. Create a Nordstrom account if you don’t already have one. Update your shipping info so everything is ready to go when the sale starts.
  4. Plan ahead. It may be scorching hot outside now, but this sale is a great time to stock up on Fall/Winter essentials like coats, boots, jeans, and handbags. I will be looking for versatile basics.

And now, here are the links to my favorite picks from the 2017 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Good luck!

Five Favorites of June

Screen Shot 2017-07-01 at 9.32.51 PM

June just flew by! As we’re getting into the middle of summer temperatures are starting to climb. It is in the upper 90’s every single day now, which means every outfit needs to be cool. My favorite fabric is currently cotton and I’m living in all my favorite brights. Let’s get started-

Strappy Crop Top- This is the Devon strappy cami from Cotton On, an Australian store devoted to cotton clothing. I love that this shade of bright blue will match with so many of my printed shorts and skorts. The top is super soft and features adjustable straps- I liked it so much I picked it up in pink too. This exact one is now sold out online, but check your local stores for availability. My location still has them in stock!

Fun Agenda- I have purchased the same Lilly Pulitzer agenda every June since I started college- I can’t live without this thing! The medium is the perfect size to bring everywhere in a purse. This year it comes in four different prints- I ended up choosing this one to match my skort- how fun is that??

The Perfect Shade- I love how concentrated this M.A.C blush is- I literally replace it only once a year and I wear it almost every single day. It also has the staying power to last through even the hottest days. My favorite shade for my skin tone is Pinch O’ Peach. If you don’t have a M.A.C location near you, Nordstrom & Macy’s also carry this product.

Summer Skort- I’m the only person I know who has a closet full of skorts, and they’re almost all from Lilly Pulitzer. I am totally obsessed and so excited that this old school item is cool again. Not only are the built in shorts good for coverage, but they’re a blessing on sticky, sweaty summer days. This one was an impulse buy off the sale rack, but there are still plenty of other cute items on the website in the same print, called Fan Sea Pants.

Dramatic Tank- Y’all are probably so tired of me talking about ruffles. So instead, let me mention how comfortable and easy to throw on, this J.Crew tank top is (also available at Nordstrom!) The ruffles are sewn onto the sleeves which means full mobility. This is the type of tank that will instantly dress up any pair of bottoms- also comes in navy.

That is all for June! Happy shopping!

Five Favorites of May

Screen Shot 2017-06-02 at 9.09.27 PM

The month of May is over and in my mind, that means it is finally summer time. The month of May was a hectic one for me- it included finals week, a week long trip in Houston and the start of a new internship. Between cramming for finals and adjusting to wearing suits to work, I didn’t have lots of time for shopping. These five favorites were things I really could not go without this month.

Fun Luggage Tag- I spent a week in Houston accompanying my boyfriend on a work trip which meant that I a) spent a lot of time in bed relaxing in our hotel room and b) I wanted a cute luggage tag for my suitcase. This one is from Lilly Pulitzer

Pink Sandals- Lets be honest- I wear a lot of pink. These sandals are my favorite, I can wear them for hours and they still feel amazing. This exact color currently has to be made custom on Jack Rogers website, the shade is called Bright Pink.

Mermaid Worthy Earrings- These earrings stood out to me immediately when I saw them in Kendra Scott‘s Summer 2017 collection catalog. I love the cool crackled pattern and the bright turquoise and gold are perfect for summer. Since these are part of the summer collection, they’ll only be sold for a limited time. Grab them before the Fall collection rolls out!

Bubble Drops- Another pair of statement making earrings, but these are an amazing deal from Charming Charlie! This style comes in a lot of different colors, but of course, I selected the pink. My favorite part is that they’re called The Austin Earring, named after my hometown of Austin, Texas. These are the solid pink in large.

Navy Shorts- A classic closet staple from J.Crew Factory. To be honest, this is my second pair of the exact same shorts, restocking an old favorite in preparation for a long summer. I own these shorts in other colors, but something about classic navy with a little white top in the summer is just so sweet. Plus, these are at a great price point.

That is everything for the month of May! Happy shopping.

Memorial Day Weekend Inspiration

What is more American than gingham and green grass? When I spotted this ruffled romper online I knew I had to order it. Thankfully it arrived just in time to wear for the start of Memorial Day Weekend, also known as the unofficial start of the summer season.

Rompers are one of my beat-the-heat closet staples because they’re so easy to throw on and look put together in while still keeping cool in 90 degree weather (yes, it is already in the 90’s here in Texas.) This little romper features a deep v-neck and v-back for optimum breeziness. I like how the gingham is a classic black and white but it has an updated feel with the ruffled bottoms. I paired it here with my favorite white sandals and a wicker basket bag.

How adorable is this wicker basket bag! These retro bags are popping up everywhere right now and I can’t scroll through my Instagram feed without seeing at least five different Southern fashionistas toting one. From high-end designer versions to vintage finds to modern versions these bags are cropping up in all forms. I liked this one because of the larger size and flat bottom, as well as the leather straps. I plan to pack sandwiches and fruity drinks in it for little summer picnics where dragging the entire picnic basket along would be too cumbersome. I think my favorite part about it though is that it was a local find- a vintage treasure I spotted at a garage sale! IMG_5632

I hope y’all have a great memorial day weekend and attend lots of picnics and cookouts! For those looking to shop, here is everything I’m wearing linked below-

Romper: SheIn (Awesome price! The bow can be removed and I wore mine without it today)
