Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Round-Up

Screen Shot 2017-07-13 at 6.41.44 PM

It is time for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Early access for Nordstrom card holders started today, but the sale starts for the public on Friday, 7/21. This is one of the biggest sales of the year for two reasons-

  1. Deep discounts on NEW Fall/Winter 2017 items (not past season items like normal sales! New things!) Prices will go back up to full retail price when the sale is over.
  2. Nordstrom carries items from hundreds of different brands, so it is basically like all your favorite stores are having a sale at the same time, same place! Some of my favorite brands Nordstrom carries include Tory Burch, M.A.C, Kendra Scott, J.Crew, Lilly Pulitzer, Vince Camuto, Topshop, Sam Edelman and many others!

Quick Tips

  1. Shop the sale online. The website will have a much wider selection than in stores.
  2. Shop early! If you don’t have a Nordstrom credit card and have to wait until the sale goes public, try to get on the website as soon as possible. Staying up on Thursday night until midnight would not be looked down upon when it comes to this sale!
  3. Create a Nordstrom account if you don’t already have one. Update your shipping info so everything is ready to go when the sale starts.
  4. Plan ahead. It may be scorching hot outside now, but this sale is a great time to stock up on Fall/Winter essentials like coats, boots, jeans, and handbags. I will be looking for versatile basics.

And now, here are the links to my favorite picks from the 2017 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Good luck!

Five Favorites of June

Screen Shot 2017-07-01 at 9.32.51 PM

June just flew by! As we’re getting into the middle of summer temperatures are starting to climb. It is in the upper 90’s every single day now, which means every outfit needs to be cool. My favorite fabric is currently cotton and I’m living in all my favorite brights. Let’s get started-

Strappy Crop Top- This is the Devon strappy cami from Cotton On, an Australian store devoted to cotton clothing. I love that this shade of bright blue will match with so many of my printed shorts and skorts. The top is super soft and features adjustable straps- I liked it so much I picked it up in pink too. This exact one is now sold out online, but check your local stores for availability. My location still has them in stock!

Fun Agenda- I have purchased the same Lilly Pulitzer agenda every June since I started college- I can’t live without this thing! The medium is the perfect size to bring everywhere in a purse. This year it comes in four different prints- I ended up choosing this one to match my skort- how fun is that??

The Perfect Shade- I love how concentrated this M.A.C blush is- I literally replace it only once a year and I wear it almost every single day. It also has the staying power to last through even the hottest days. My favorite shade for my skin tone is Pinch O’ Peach. If you don’t have a M.A.C location near you, Nordstrom & Macy’s also carry this product.

Summer Skort- I’m the only person I know who has a closet full of skorts, and they’re almost all from Lilly Pulitzer. I am totally obsessed and so excited that this old school item is cool again. Not only are the built in shorts good for coverage, but they’re a blessing on sticky, sweaty summer days. This one was an impulse buy off the sale rack, but there are still plenty of other cute items on the website in the same print, called Fan Sea Pants.

Dramatic Tank- Y’all are probably so tired of me talking about ruffles. So instead, let me mention how comfortable and easy to throw on, this J.Crew tank top is (also available at Nordstrom!) The ruffles are sewn onto the sleeves which means full mobility. This is the type of tank that will instantly dress up any pair of bottoms- also comes in navy.

That is all for June! Happy shopping!

Five Favorites of May

Screen Shot 2017-06-02 at 9.09.27 PM

The month of May is over and in my mind, that means it is finally summer time. The month of May was a hectic one for me- it included finals week, a week long trip in Houston and the start of a new internship. Between cramming for finals and adjusting to wearing suits to work, I didn’t have lots of time for shopping. These five favorites were things I really could not go without this month.

Fun Luggage Tag- I spent a week in Houston accompanying my boyfriend on a work trip which meant that I a) spent a lot of time in bed relaxing in our hotel room and b) I wanted a cute luggage tag for my suitcase. This one is from Lilly Pulitzer

Pink Sandals- Lets be honest- I wear a lot of pink. These sandals are my favorite, I can wear them for hours and they still feel amazing. This exact color currently has to be made custom on Jack Rogers website, the shade is called Bright Pink.

Mermaid Worthy Earrings- These earrings stood out to me immediately when I saw them in Kendra Scott‘s Summer 2017 collection catalog. I love the cool crackled pattern and the bright turquoise and gold are perfect for summer. Since these are part of the summer collection, they’ll only be sold for a limited time. Grab them before the Fall collection rolls out!

Bubble Drops- Another pair of statement making earrings, but these are an amazing deal from Charming Charlie! This style comes in a lot of different colors, but of course, I selected the pink. My favorite part is that they’re called The Austin Earring, named after my hometown of Austin, Texas. These are the solid pink in large.

Navy Shorts- A classic closet staple from J.Crew Factory. To be honest, this is my second pair of the exact same shorts, restocking an old favorite in preparation for a long summer. I own these shorts in other colors, but something about classic navy with a little white top in the summer is just so sweet. Plus, these are at a great price point.

That is everything for the month of May! Happy shopping.

Memorial Day Weekend Inspiration

What is more American than gingham and green grass? When I spotted this ruffled romper online I knew I had to order it. Thankfully it arrived just in time to wear for the start of Memorial Day Weekend, also known as the unofficial start of the summer season.

Rompers are one of my beat-the-heat closet staples because they’re so easy to throw on and look put together in while still keeping cool in 90 degree weather (yes, it is already in the 90’s here in Texas.) This little romper features a deep v-neck and v-back for optimum breeziness. I like how the gingham is a classic black and white but it has an updated feel with the ruffled bottoms. I paired it here with my favorite white sandals and a wicker basket bag.

How adorable is this wicker basket bag! These retro bags are popping up everywhere right now and I can’t scroll through my Instagram feed without seeing at least five different Southern fashionistas toting one. From high-end designer versions to vintage finds to modern versions these bags are cropping up in all forms. I liked this one because of the larger size and flat bottom, as well as the leather straps. I plan to pack sandwiches and fruity drinks in it for little summer picnics where dragging the entire picnic basket along would be too cumbersome. I think my favorite part about it though is that it was a local find- a vintage treasure I spotted at a garage sale! IMG_5632

I hope y’all have a great memorial day weekend and attend lots of picnics and cookouts! For those looking to shop, here is everything I’m wearing linked below-

Romper: SheIn (Awesome price! The bow can be removed and I wore mine without it today)

Earrings: Kendra Scott in white pearl

Five Favorites of April +1

Screen Shot 2017-05-02 at 9.39.42 PM

I know I’ve been slacking with the blog posts during the month of April- this month has been crazy stressful! But I definitely haven’t been missing out on my shopping. So this month, here are my five favorites PLUS ONE. Here are some of my favorite things I purchased and wore during the month of April. I have them all linked below here so y’all can wear them too-

Gingham Bikini- J.Crew recently moved both the top and bottoms to sale! The bikini bottom is now only $29.99 (previously $44) and the off the shoulder bikini top is now $39.99 (previously $58). All sale items are also an extra 30% off right now! Get this bikini before it sells out. If turquoise isn’t your color, this bathing suit also comes in pink or navy.

Floral Perfume- Vince Camuto’s fiori scent can be purchased at ULTA or directly from the Vince Camuto website. I found the entire gift set with shower gel and lotion at a local Marshall’s, so check there too!

White Summer Bag- I’m in love with the Tory Burch Parker Small Tote in “new ivory”. It is made of saffiano leather and has FIVE pockets. I purchased the small size, but there is also a larger version. The interior is bright orange which is a fun surprise. If you’re not looking for a white bag it also comes in navy, black, tan, cobalt blue or red.

Off-the-Shoulder Top- J.Crew did it again with this darling top. I’m currently obsessed with gingham and I love that this top is in a fun grass green color. This one also comes in classic navy gingham. I’ll be pairing mine with white skinny jeans for the rest of spring and chino shorts this summer.

Something Turquoise- One of Kendra Scott‘s best sales of the year happens during Easter- this year all clearance items were an extra 30% off! I scored this turquoise Andy Bracelet for a great deal, but even though that sale is over the bracelet is still marked down to clearance in all colors. If the color you’re looking for is sold out online, call your local store.

Gold Ballet Flats- These are J.Crew‘s Cece Ballet Flats in metallic platinum. I know, ANOTHER J.Crew item! But, give me a break- these flats are made ENTIRELY IN ITALY for only $138. The leather is soft and the rubber sole is bouncy. I love them for chilly spring days when I don’t want to wear sandals or for work in a cold office when heels are just not happening. Basically, they’re a wear-everywhere closet staple that will last me years.

Okay, that’s it for my April Favorites! Happy shopping!

Five Favorites of March

Style by Ivette's March Favorites

These are my top five favorite items I purchased in the month of March! These items are tried and true by me personally- and I love em. You probably already noticed me styling these items on Instagram last month and will definitely see these pieces pop up again in the future. I have them all linked below for y’all! Happy shopping!

Sky Blue Statements- J.Crew‘s Beaded Rumba Earrings in cornflower blue. These earrings also come in red, black, clear, gold and olive green. So many choices!
Fitted Tank- Lilly Pulitzer’s Arya Tank in Lovers Coral which is sold out in stores, but found this one at T.J. Maxx for a great deal. I took an XS. Similar tank at Lilly Pulitzer now if your local T.J. Maxx doesn’t have it.
Striped Ruffle Top- J.Crew‘s Ruffle-sleeve Top in ivory navy, I took an XS and it’s available in solid white or solid baby pink as well.
Neutral Lips- Lorac‘s PRO Matte Lip Color in Nude Pink, ULTA is running a sale right now so hurry!
Gold Flats- Jack Roger’s Gabrielle Ballet Flat in gold, purchased on sale from Amazon. Limited sizes are left and these are on deep discount so add to cart quickly! These flats are true to size, I took the same size I wear in Jack Roger’s sandals. They also come in black.

Ruffles at the Rodeo

One of my favorite things about growing up in Texas is visiting the rodeo in the spring time. A Sunday spent at the rodeo is a hot, sunny day spent munching on fried fair food and walking the grounds- so my favorite pair of white chino shorts and matching white Jack Rogers sandals were a must! Y’all will see me wearing these leather sandals in different colors frequently throughout the spring and summer. The star of this outfit is this lightweight cotton blouse- the Edie Top in Shirting Stripe features delicate menswear stripes paired with dramatic ruffles which really make it a unique piece.
