September Favorites

Its finally FALL Y’ALL! Now that we’re moving into the month of October my mind is on pumpkins, scary movies, and midterms. Let’s roll back to September to talk about my five favorite fashion items I purchased during the month and get y’all some links so you can go buy them too. Like always, I’ll start from the top left of this graphic and move my way over.

LBD- This J.Crew Factory shirtdress is something I never thought I would wear. It mixes two things I generally stay away from- all black and a menswear inspired dress. However, as soon as I tried this on I fell in love. Texas is still hot through September and October so I’m always looking for lightweight fall dresses. This dress is 100% cotton making it breathable and light. It is currently available in solid black or solid white as well as plaid and two gingham options. All colors/prints have now been marked down to clearance and sizes are going fast!

Shirt Dress- Ralph Lauren’s Polo Shirtdresses are nothing new. These dresses have been around for years and for good reason! When choosing pieces to add to my closet I try to stick to classics that will not look ridiculous in 2 years or even 5. I like that Ralph Lauren is an American designer and Polo Ralph Lauren products are always high quality and last for years. I picked mine up at TJ Maxx but these are also available at Polo Ralph Lauren stores (not online). This dress fits true to size- I wear a size small.

Hunter Green- This shade of green just cheers me up. Fall is my favorite season for many reasons but the lack of bright colors is not one of them. To avoid wearing neutrals every day I add some pretty jewel tones into my wardrobe. One shade I will be targeting for Fall 2017 is definitely hunter green. The ruffle sleeve trend that has exploded this year shows no sign of slowing down. This J.Crew Factory blouse features a double row of mini ruffles at the cuffs and a straight fit throughout. It is sold in solid navy, green, white or pink. This top runs big and I sized down to a size 2.

Merino Wool- J.Crew’s Tippi Sweater has been a long time favorite of mine. It is a super lightweight, fitted sweater which is perfect for warmer climates or early fall for my followers up North. The sweater is 100% merino wool which means *dry clean only ladies* but it is well worth it. This type of wool is thinner and softer than other types and doesn’t itch. The sweater is sold year-round in tons of colors and prints but the light grey color I picked up is called Heather Smoke. This sweater fits true to size- I wear a size small.

Classic Polo- Another staple piece in every girl’s closet is a polo shirt. This updated version from Vineyard Vines features a tailored fit. The navy blue color I purchased is called Vineyard Navy. My favorite part about Vineyard Vines’ polo shirts, as opposed to other brands, is how sturdy and durable the cotton/spandex fabric is that they use. I can throw this polo in the washing machine and the dryer with no shrinkage or wrinkles when it comes out. I size down in Vineyard Vines from my normal size small and wear an extra small in this top.

That completes my round up. Happy shopping y’all!

Los Angeles Trip Pt 2

IMG_8640

Hi y’all! As promised, this post will detail the second half of my vacation in Los Angeles. If you didn’t read my first post yet, head over to read my Los Angeles Trip Pt 1 post for the first half of the story! I had so many things that I wanted to tell y’all about my trip that I couldn’t keep it to just one blog post. Through out the post, I’ll be sharing some of the things we did and dropping links to shop all of my outfits.

IMG_8639

We visited Los Callejones, a shopping district in Downtown Los Angeles that reminded me of a giant outdoor flea market. This place was crazy y’all- street vendors were selling everything from Mexican snacks to pet parakeets. It was like nothing I have ever seen at home in Texas. The options were a bit overwhelming but I was able to pick up a couple cute, off brand dresses that I will be styling on my Instagram. This passion fruit drink was delicious and much needed in the California sunshine.

I wore my Lilly Pulitzer Nicki Skort in the print Fan Sea Pants from one of their Summer 2017 releases. This exact print is now sold out, but the skort is still available for this fall in solid white (the white version is on my wish list!) I paired it with my favorite American Apparel halter bodysuit in white. I own this bodysuit in 3 colors and this one has definitely stood the test of time. If you haven’t heard the news yet, Los Angeles based American Apparel closed all of its stores across the United States earlier this year. However, after a brief absence, it appears that their online store is still up and running! I will be stocking up while I still can. My sandals are my trusty Jack Rogers Palm Beach Sandal in white and my earrings are Kendra Scott Danielle Earrings in magenta.

IMG_8481

We devoted an entire day to explore the beautiful town of Santa Monica, California. After spending most of the day on the beach, I threw on this Lilly Pulitzer Marco Island Tunic in the print Lovers Coral from summer 2016. It made the perfect cover up for lunch on the Santa Monica Boardwalk.

IMG_8893

Wearing Lilly Pulitzer’s Harper Linen t-shirt Dress in the print Any Fins Possible from summer 2016 for our last full day of our trip. By this time I was tired and ready to come home- I wanted to wear something comfortable and light weight. The Harper dress is 100% linen and the embroidery and pom poms around the neckline are too perfect for vacation. I’m wearing this dress with the same sandals linked above and my Tory Burch Parker Tote in ivory from Spring 2017. Although this back is no longer available in ivory you can now snatch it up in some gorgeous fall colors like cardamom and bordeaux (tan or maroon). My earrings are the Kendra Scott Danielle Earrings in Bronze Veined Turquoise -this stone is from the Summer 2017 collection and will most likely be gone once it sells out so order this one soon.

IMG_8922

I had to have at least one brunch before I left Los Angeles. We visited Crave Cafe, where they serve pizza alongside crepes and giant slices of oreo cake all before noon. This spread was too delicious not to share with y’all. I’m pairing the Lilly Pulitzer Duval Dress in the print Stay Cool from Summer 2016 with the jewelry from the post above. I picked this linen dress up at Ladybird, the Lilly Pulitzer signature store outside Los Angeles, and couldn’t wait to wear it before summer ends!

IMG_8949

At LAX ready to head home! That wraps up this post! I’ll be skipping a 5 Favorites of August post since I tagged so many things in my Los Angeles Shopping Haul, but will be back with my 5 Favorites of September soon!

Los Angeles Shopping Haul

Screen Shot 2017-08-23 at 10.49.37 PM

Hey y’all! Of course, I did some shopping during my time in Los Angeles. I wanted to share all of the pieces I purchased with y’all, so I thought the easiest way to do that would be to make a haul post. Below will be individual images and links so y’all can get these things too! Scroll down for individual photos of each item and info on where to purchase. Let’s jump in.

IMG_8964

I purchased this linen sweater at J.Crew (exact sweater linked here) at The Grove, love the light weight and trim on this one! Linen is perfect for early fall here in Texas since it will still be a bit warm here until November. It is currently on sale in 5 colors so hurry and order now.

IMG_8965

I picked up this ruffle sleeve top at UNIQLO, (exact top linked here) a Japan based store that we do not have in Texas (yet!) It is made from super soft cotton and was a steal at only $14.90! You can order this one online if you don’t have a store near you- it comes in 3 other colors and runs true to size. I can’t wait to style this in the fall with jeans and booties.

IMG_8975

We stopped at a favorite re-sale store of mine, Buffalo Exchange (website linked so you can find a location near you) has a store in Austin, Texas that is filled with vintage goodies. I found this brand new ZARA skirt at a Los Angeles location. I can’t resist a wool mini skirt for fall and winter. This navy version will look great over long sleeved bodysuits and sweaters.

IMG_8968

Even on vacation, I had to stop in at one of my favorite stores- TJ Maxx! We found a two story location in Los Angeles. I find the best deals here and visit frequently to shop for things like home decor and house wares. Sometimes I wander into the clothing section and find a gem like this little jersey romper. The ruffle sleeves and low price made me throw it in my cart. I sized up for extra length and will be styling this with heeled mules and booties soon!

IMG_8972

The second thing I picked up at the two story TJ Maxx was this silky black bodysuit. The high neck and keyhole cut out make it unique. I’ll wear this for a night out with jeans and black heels or a bodycon skirt.

IMG_8974I also stopped in at a couple Brandy Melville (exact pants linked) locations while in Los Angeles. This Italian store is famous for its California style and super soft cotton basics. A few years ago this was one of my favorite stores, but I actually haven’t shopped here in at least 3 years. I was won back when our new Nordstrom location started carrying their items and I spotted multiple gingham, plaid and french striped pieces. I spotted dozens of California girls wearing this brand, and these skinny pants may be one of my very favorite purchases! I can’t wait to wear these all fall and winter. Brandy Melville is a one size fits all store, and these have an elastic waist. They are a slim fit (despite looking like pajamas on the hanger) and would best fit a size 2-4.

IMG_8961

One of the most interesting places we shopped at wasn’t a shopping mall but a place called Las Callejones in downtown Los Angeles. It was basically a ginormous outdoor flea market that spanned several blocks of the city. Vendors sold everything from snacks to parrots! I spotted this neon pink v-neck dress and was surprised to find it was fully lined and pretty good quality. Summer is almost over so I’ll be styling this soon for y’all!

IMG_8958

The second thing I purchased at Las Callejones was this navy blue skater dress. It is made from thin, stretchy fabric and has 3/4 length sleeves that will be a blessing on warm fall days. I’ll be layering a field jacket over it and pairing with flats all fall long. I’ve linked an almost exact version here.

IMG_8959

Another interesting shop we visited was Fashion Q, with locations across Los Angeles this store offers trendy, low priced items from different brands. They currently do not have a website or online store so I linked their Instagram page. This store reminded me of a local version of Forever 21. I was excited to pick out some trendy pieces no on in Texas will have! This peach bodycon dress will be perfect for a spring party with white heels.

IMG_8960

Another gem I found at Fashion Q was this floral applique mesh bodysuit. I’ve seen many fashionistas wearing similar bodysuits all over the internet, but what really drew me to this one was the bright pink color and the daisies all across the front. This was the very last one- I took a size up because I wasn’t leaving this behind. I’ll be styling this next summer with white skirts or jeans. I found a few similar bodysuits online, including a maroon one, a high neck version in black or white and a blush rosebud version.

IMG_8967When I saw this light weight jacket at Fashion Q, it reminded me of my favorite Downtown Field Jacket from J.Crew. This navy jacket is made of soft cotton and has a hood. It also cinches at the waist and features gold hardware. It is the perfect thing to throw over sweaters or dresses all fall and winter. I linked similar jackets here and here for y’all.

IMG_8973

The last item I picked up at Fashion Q was this basic black t-shirt dress- I sized way up for a loose and casual look. I liked this one because of the short sleeves and dolphin hem. This is something I can’t wait to style a million different ways, but I think it will look great with my black Hunter boots and a jacket when the fall storms start to roll in! I linked a similar one here for y’all.

IMG_8971

Finally, I picked up a couple Lilly Pulitzer dresses at LadyBird, a Lilly Pulitzer signature store in Los Angeles that will be going out of business by the end of the month. I actually spotted several ladies wearing Lilly while on vacation on the West Coast even though Lilly is most popular in the south and north east. This is the Duval Dress in the print Stay Cool- it is no longer on the website but still available to order from Amazon. I love that this dress is 100% linen and has pops of navy. I plan to transition this into fall with a long navy cardigan and ballet flats!

IMG_8969

The second dress I picked up is the Essie Dress in the print Sparkling Sands, still available to order from Nordstrom. This multi-color print screams summer so I actually popped the tags and wore this while in Los Angeles! We only have a couple weeks before fall arrives, so this one will probably not be worn again until next summer.

Well ladies, this was a longer blog post than I usually do. Thank y’all for sticking through to the end! I hope you enjoyed my haul from my vacation in Los Angeles- this is every clothing item I purchased. Follow me on Instagram @stylebyivette to see the fall items styled soon and follow the links to shop these yourself.

Los Angeles Trip Pt 1

IMG_8009

Hi ladies! I just got back to Austin, Texas and I’m so happy to be home again. My boyfriend and I decided to take our summer vacation in Los Angeles this year (my third trip there) and I have so much to share with y’all! This blog post will be a round up of the first half of our vacation and a haul post will be coming soon to share all the goodies I purchased on the West Coast! Everything I’m wearing that is still available in stores will be tagged through out this post. I’ll mostly be discussing what I wore and the shopping we did, although I did enjoy lots of delicious food and sight seeing while I was there.

IMG_8078

As soon as our plane landed in Los Angeles I wanted to go out and start shopping and sight seeing. I ordered this Lilly Pulitzer Marlowe Dress in the print Sea Salt and Sun from Nordstrom right before we left and it was perfect for our early morning flight and an afternoon shopping at Glendale Galleria, an indoor shopping mall and Americana at Brand, an outdoor shopping center attached to the Glendale Galleria. This mall is located about 45 minutes from LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) outside of Los Angeles in Glendale, California. I’m wearing my classic Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses in the color Green Classic G-15. I’m also wearing my gold Tory Burch Miller sandals and teal Kendra Scott Danielle earrings in this photo, which I have talked about before on the blog.

IMG_8188

For our first full day in Los Angeles, we headed to the beach! We spent our morning in San Pedro, the port of Los Angeles. I was surprised by how chilly it was- my favorite white denim jacket (old, from Old Navy) really came in handy. I threw it over my white Sleeveless Essie Top, a staple in my closet. This tank top is made from the nicest pima cotton and is something I wear year round.

IMG_8191

I tucked it into one of my very favorite skorts, Lilly Pulitzer’s Michelina skort in the print Red Right Return from summer 2015. The little sail boats in this print are adorable, and I definitely matched all of the boats coming into the port. I was also wearing my white Kendra Scott Danielle earrings.

IMG_8196

The highlight of my day was visiting the San Pedro Fish Markets, where we were able to choose our own fresh seafood and have it cooked for us on the spot. I had tons of fun picking out my own crab and lobster for lunch, something I can’t do back home in central Texas! Sipping on a giant strawberry margarita by the bay and watching the sailboats was amazing.

IMG_8349On this day I chose to wear my favorite Lilly Pulitzer Ritz Romper in the print You Gotta Regatta. This one is from their Summer 2016 collection and was a birthday gift from last year. We planned to hit up multiple malls and I wanted to wear something comfortable and easy to change out of. We ended up visiting multiple shopping centers on this day, including Rodeo Drive, Melrose Avenue, The Grove, and LadyBird.

IMG_8224

We visited the only Lilly Pulitzer store in Los Angeles while we were there. I try to visit a Lilly Pulitzer store every time I go on vacation or a trip out of town. LadyBird is a Lilly Pulitzer Signature Store, which means it is a franchise store and independently owned. Signature Stores can be found on the Lilly Pulitzer websites store locator and are official Lilly Pulitzer carriers, but they are allowed to hold their own sales, events and carry other brands as well. This store was adorable, but unfortunately, it is going out of business and closing down by the end of August 2017. The entire store was 50%-70% off, and although there was a very limited selection by the time I got there I was able to score a couple pieces!

That is all for my round-up of the first half of my trip in Los Angeles! Keep checking back for a second blog post about the second half of my trip and my Los Angeles Shopping Haul too! Love you ladies, thank y’all for reading!

5 Favorites of July

July Favorites Graphic.png

July is one of my favorite months of the year. Not only is it my birthday month, but it is smack dab in the middle of summer. By mid-July I’m starting back-to-school shopping and finishing up with summer purchases. I can’t believe this will be my senior year of college and LAST back-to-school shopping season! Anyways, this year I’m still grabbing a couple summer items, like this bathing suit cover up for my vacation to Los Angeles coming up in August. Let’s move on to my 5 favorite things I purchased this month!

Chunky Heel Sandals- The second I spotted these shoes on a shelf at a local consignment store I knew I had to have them. This is the Tory Burch Bleecker Slingback Sandal, featuring a totally leather construction (so the sole, lining and upper are all made of a beautiful supple leather) and have a 4 inch heel. I can picture myself wearing these all fall with skinny jeans and jewel toned swing dresses. Although this exact shoe is sold out on the Tory Burch website, I have seen a few pairs listed on eBay and Poshmark!

Beachy Cover-Up- I’m leaving for vacation in Los Angeles in a couple weeks and wanted to make sure I had a super summery bikini cover up to wear on the beach. I plan to spend at least one whole day in Santa Monica, enjoying the gorgeous beach in my bikini but also shopping and strolling the boardwalk. This tunic style cover-up will be perfect for throwing on over my bikini to go grab lunch and hit the shops! This is the Marco Island Tunic in the print Lovers Coral from last summer and is no longer sold in stores. Linked is a similar printed cover-up from this summer’s Lilly Pulitzer collection.

Curl Cream- As a naturally curly haired lady, I’m very picky about hair products. I generally have one go-to alcohol free product that I use religiously, but my mom who has similar hair recommended this curl cream to me. It makes my curls defined and hydrated. This is the One ‘n Only Argan Oil Curl Cream and you can get it here at Sally’s Beauty Supply online or in stores.

Transition Tank- Okay, technically my boyfriend purchased this one for me as one of my birthday presents (he picked it out all by himself!) I love how this print has a navy background, which means this tank will easily transition into this fall. I’m currently wearing this top as I write this blog post with a pair of white chino shorts and sandals, it is 104 degrees outside right now. But come fall, I’ll be styling this tank with a navy cardigan, skinny jeans, and boots! I recommend sizing down one size from your regular top size. This is the Crayton Racer Back Tank in the print Head in the Sand (yes, they’re pink ostriches) and you can order it here from Lilly Pulitzer.

Classic Jeans- I have never been a jeans girl. I know they’re an American staple and all, but I would much prefer to be in a skirt or dress any day. However, after trying many brands, this pair are hands down my favorite jeans ever. This is the Toothpick Jean from J.Crew- they’re a skinny jean in a classic dark rinse, and I love how they look with sweaters and boots in the fall and winter. I now own five pairs of these exact jeans in different washes. Great news! This color is now on super sale with an extra 50% off the MARKED DOWN price. I recommend sizing up one size from your normal jeans size. Order them here and hurry before sizes start to run out.

That is it for July! Happy hunting ladies.

Happy Hippos

Sharing this pink and green summer outfit with you ladies! Let’s get down to business.

The Top: I’m styling the Devon Strappy Cami from my June Favorites post for y’all- remember how I said I purchased it in two colors? Here is the pink version! I love this muted shade of pink because it matches so much of my Lilly Pulitzer collection. The criss-cross straps are very on-trend right now, and although it took me awhile to finally try them out (I lean more towards classic, timeless styles) I’m glad I did! This little top is made from 100% cotton and is super soft and breathable for hot summer days. It was over 100 degrees outside when these photos were taken!

The Skort: This skort has become one of my very favorite Lilly Pulitzer pieces. Now honestly, when I first saw it, I almost left it behind. I’m so glad I didn’t! I love spending my weekends browsing thrift stores for older and rare pieces to add to my closet, which is how I acquired this Lilly Pulitzer skort in the print Beach Bums, from the 2006 summer collection. Can y’all imagine that I was 10 years old when this skort was released in stores? I think my favorite part about older Lilly Pulitzer prints is the detail that went into each one. I still love the newer, more abstract prints, but the little smiling hippos in this print really get me- how hilarious are they. My favorite Lilly Pulitzer prints have always been the ones where you can easily identify what is in the print- whether it be zoo animals, sea creatures, flowers or boats. The pink and white daisy trim along the sides add that extra special touch that screams “Lilly!” Why don’t more brands make skorts and dresses with pretty trims?

The Bag: This purse is my newest edition to my Tory Burch collection. It is the smaller size of the Parker Tote from the Tory Burch Spring 2017 collection. I purchased this one in May, right at the end of my junior year of college as a reward to myself for surviving another year. Anyways, I know y’all have seen this bag in a lot of my Instagram posts. This bag is made from Saffiano leather, which is made by coating high-quality leather with a wax or resin and then pressing a cross hatch print into it. This makes the bag semi-water proof and very easy to clean. The technique was originally created in Italy and patented by Prada, invented by Mario Prada himself. I personally love Saffiano leather because of its durable qualities. I feel more comfortable knowing that my everyday bag can experience spills and lipstick smudges that can easily be cleaned when I get home. Aside from that, the bag is a gorgeous ivory color that goes with all my bright summer outfits and fits my 13in MacBook. Unfortunately, this color is now sold out, but the bag can still be purchased in an array of other vibrant colors including new additions such as a gorgeous maroon called ‘deep garnet’ and blush pink called ‘pink quartz.

That concludes my rundown of this outfit. As always thank you ladies for reading!

21st Birthday Outfit!

IMG_7340IMG_7339IMG_7338IMG_7358

Hey, everyone! I’m super excited to share this special outfit with y’all- I turned 21 years old this Monday and of course, I had to celebrate in a fun, bright dress. I finally popped the tags off this gorgeous shift for the occasion. My first legal drink (wine of course) and a sushi dinner was the perfect way to celebrate. I’m ready to spill all the details on my birthday outfit and linking everything so y’all can buy it too.

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer Janice Shift Dress in Scuba to Cuba
This dress is from Lilly Pulitzer’s Summer 2015 collection- yes I’ve been saving it that long. I love this colorful print which features little fishes, seaweed and maybe a jellyfish or two! This dress screams summer and called for a special day. The signature gold embroidery on the neckline and more form fitting shape makes it a Janice shift- one of my favorite Lilly Pulitzer styles. A similar printed Lilly Pulitzer dress is linked here.

Earrings: Kendra Scott Danielle’s in Magenta
I adore the fact that the magenta magnesite stones match the shade of pink in my dress perfectly. Nothing makes an outfit look more put-together than matching accessories. I wear these earrings frequently during the summer because they look just as great with a pair of shorts and a tank as they do with a party dress! The best part about Kendra Scott Danielle earrings is that they are made from 14K gold plating over brass, which means they are durable and won’t tarnish easily. Grab your own pair here.

Sandals: Tory Burch Millers in Gold
These sandals are a summer staple in my closet. I decided to dress this outfit down with my favorite flats. Not only are these sandals extremely comfortable thanks to the soft leather and rubber sole but they are a classic style that will always look good. Tory Burch has been selling the Miller sandal with their iconic logo in various colors and prints for years now, head over to their website for this exact pair though.

Also, I wanted to say thank you again for all of the sweet birthday wishes I received on Instagram! I started posting my #OOTDS on Instagram about 5 years ago and I have gathered a tiny but loyal following. So thank you, ladies, for being so sweet and liking all my outfits over the years! I love sharing about what I’m wearing on this little corner of the internet and I hope I can help someone out there with these posts.
